"The Final Catastrophe" Released in 1997 / SR-3001
After spending the 80's tearing up the Southeastern U.S. metal circuit the original lineup has reformed to record their debut album of epic symphonic hard rock. Bassist Steve Babb and drummer Bill McKinney provide the rhythmic foundation for the virtuoso shred guitar excusions of David Carter. Special guest Fred Schendel (of Glass Hammer) adds symphonic keyboard arrangements. Fantasy based Wyzards classics "Phantoms/Lizards" and "The Final Catastrophe" blend the progressive sounds of Rush and Yes with the power of Deep Purple. The new 19-minute "All of the World" updates the Wyzards sound for the 90's and beyond.

"Imagine a dense brew of mid-period Rush with some ELP style keyboards and Threshold's sharper edges and you might come up with Wyzards..."

"The Final Catastrophe is a highly sophisticated and beautifully produced prog metal CD that most everyone will enjoy."
- Sentinel Steel Magazine, U.S.

"Impressive! This Tennessee trio obviously made a long trip backwards in time, cause their material has a strong influence from the progressive rock music of the late 70's/early 80's. Only the great production indicates that this is obviously a newer recording. The band came up with six really deep structured compositions whose individual playing time varies between 4½ and almost 20 minutes!! They mainly incorporate musical influences from older Rush (circa Permanent Waves and prior recordings), but also from the more simple rock/hardrock classics in the vein of old Rainbow/Black Sabbath and even some spacey Hawkwind, Yes or older Marillion elements are quite obvious. The entire material changes between extremely progressive (yet really melodic) and catchy rockstuff, but always on a high musical level. This band might not be on the metal side of things, but definitely worth your attention in case you are either open minded enough or a fan of prog rock anyway."
