Biography:   Recorded in 1977, this album has attained legendary status among progressive rock collectors around the world. What is it about this album that attracts so many people? Perhaps it is the dark music which blends the intensity of Van Der Graaf Generator and the complexity of Gentle Giant with it's own distinctive creative edge. Or could it be the macabre cover art of H.R. Giger?

Island was formed in the early 70's from the ashes of the Swiss psychedelic band Deaf. Island experienced numerous personnel changes over the years and did not record an album until this last incarnation of the band went to Italy's famous Dischi Ricordi studios in 1976. The production of the album was supervised by Claudio Fabi who worked with many of Italy's top progressive artists. Notable members of Island include Benny Jäger who was the vocalist for Vic Vergat's hard rock trio, Toad, as well as Peter Scherer who has since become a fixture on the New York City downtown avant music scene including a stint with Arto Lindsay as part of Ambitious Lovers. Included as a bonus track is an unreleased composition - Empty Bottles. It is 23 minutes in length and could have easily been the cornerstone of another album.

Only the original master tapes were used. They were transferred utilizing a custom built 20 bit 128x oversampling A/D converter as well as tube electronics. We think the sound is startling!
