Biography:

Technical, intense and truly progressive, this album marks the new era of thinking man's metal.
Spiral Architect formed in 1993 intent on building upon a genre created by bands like Watchtower, Atheist, Fates Warning, Cynic and Death. Their first and only demo soon made these Norwegians the talk of the Internet and metal magazines around the world. Perhaps the most hyped unsigned band around, Spiral Architect chose further development over quick fame. Oeyvind Haegeland (ex-Manitou) joined to brilliantly fill the vacant vocal spot, completing the bands foundation. Revitalized, the band went back underground to further progress, sculpture new sounds and thoroughly design an album to the members liking.
Intense - Focused - Inspiring: in order to successfully realize this concept the band understood the need to connect with masters of the trade equally dedicated to truly progressive music. Having shown interest in working with the band for many years, Neil Kernon was the obvious choice to produce the album. He spent the '70s working with progressive icons like Yes, Brand X, Mahavishnu Orchestra and Kansas. Neil is well established in the metal community for his current work with Nevermore and N17 as well as producing many a classic album including Queensryche's Rage for Order and Judas Priest's Unleashed in the East.
In advance of its release A Sceptic’s Universe has already been cited by Metal Maniacs as a Top 10 release for 2000 and a future classic.
